Irene has been on her usual cool living spree and Shells (and her entire household) has been recovering from a wicked cold bug. So, we’re just winging it this week…

White Nonsense returns this episode because apparently, Jay-Z got mad baby mamas. Speaking of Jay-Z, he’s being inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame. Irene’s checked out The Evolution of Hip Hop, and it’s a must see for all music heads or lovers of Hip Hop. We’re talking about Chance the Rapper and how “independant” he really is; then we discuss the complexity of the Grammys…Beyonce, Adele, album of the year, song of the year, and acceptance speeches.

The first family of Black Music is in Irene’s Beats and Eye Spy Inspiration is about giving people their roses when they are enjoy them. That’s all we got this week.

Shells is realizing that this month is full of fun activities that will ultimately contribute to her birthday celebration; and speaking of b-days, Irene is headed back to Miami to celebrate with the Bestie!

• First and foremost, the Carter Family is expecting twins and Irene has a word for anyone who has something negative to say about Bey and her baby announcement. *yikes*
• Tamron Hall walked away from a multi-million dollar contract with NBC after learning that she was being replaced by Megan Kelly on the Today show.
• Meanwhile, Jemele Hill & Michael Smith have a new show and a dope black pop culture sports perspective to ESPN.
• An American Airlines Flight Attendant trusted her intuition and saved a girl from human traffiking.
• Unbelievably (or not at this point), Betsy DeVos was confirmed as Secretary of Education in an historic tie breaking vote.
• And then we discuss the disappointing loss (for many) of Super Bowl 51… and the complex and frustrating conversations that resulted.

Then we wrap up this show with some some sexy music in Irene’s Beats and a quote from the Universe as Shells’ Eye Spy Inspiration.

Let’s get into it…

Shells had an impromptu sleep over with friends this weekend and is just feeling thankful for connection with others. Blessed to have a long history of quality friendships. Also, while late to the party, she’s officially…and finally… into GOT.

Irene had an equally refreshing weekend, hanging out with friends, playing games, chopping it up, and the like… and followed it up with a surprisingly fulfilling hot yoga experience. Life is good.

We are sprinkling our own #BlackGirlMagic on this first day of February, also known as Black History Month. We’re sharing a few Black Facts with the Good People.  And speaking of, Black History Month, our Plug of the Week is all about celebrating the RISE:1863.

Now to the water cooler: Trump in the White House is like a bull in  a China Shop…we try to recap the madness; and is anything “off limits” during a Trump administration?; a Tallahassee pastor (seemingly) took a page out of a Tyler Perry script; the Boy Scouts changed their rules, Serena wins another Grand Slam (23 to be exact) and we discuss the haps of Chrisette Michele and her “no political genius” antics.

Irene has a new Missy Elliott joint – specifically the video- in her Beats this week… and Shells’ Eye Spy is an excerpt from Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune about moving forward with the torch Carter G. Woodson lit for us.
