Modern Media – Truth or Fiction

**Quick Note: This week’s episode was recorded the day before the world lost the musical legend, Prince. We’ll be sure share our thoughts during next week’s episode. Our thoughts and prayers go our to his family, friends, and fans around the world.**

Hey good people!!!

We’ve both been basking in the beautiful glow of love as we celebrated the marriages (and engagements) of some of our dearest friends.

This week’s water cooler chatter included the awesome hair equality movement led by Shea Moisture, the growing presidential campaigns of Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, the new BLACK face that will be on the new 20 dollar bill, and then… there’s  a word on (pre-Lemonade debut) Beyonce’ and Ivy Park.

What’s more important to you: looking strong to others or actually being strong? That’s this week’s would you rather question. Let us know what you think! @FSGPodcast #FSGWYR

And speaking of perception… given recent documentary series such like Confirmation (the Anita Hill Story) and ACS: The People vs OJ, we had to discuss how the media shapes, manipulates, and influences the perception of the general public in high profile cases and ideology, in general.

Finally, we wrap up this week with a little “Pillow Talk” in Irene’s Beats and an Eye Spy inspirational reminder that “dreaming” alone is not enough.

That’s it for now, but we’ll be back next week!  Listen. Laugh. Share.

The Golden Episode

We’re a year in these podcast streets — fifty episodes to be exact…so we are reminiscing about a few (of many) memorable moments. We hope you enjoy this show…but more than anything, we appreciate your support of the FSG experience. We love ya’ll! Here’s to another year of randomness for shits and giggles!

XO –

Irene & Shells

Wait, was that offensive?

Hey-Hey Ya’ll!!

New Week – New Shenanigans! Shells is getting ready for a Hawaiian getaway to celebrate our beloved friend and LS, Mary; and Irene’s trip to New Orleans was super epic, as expected! Believe it or not, FSG is official one year in the podcast game! So thanks for coming back week after week for our antics!

This week’s “Would You Rather” contemplation: Would you rather have a pet stark or a pet lion? (these things are ridiculous, lol) We NEED to know… #FSGWYR @FSGPodcast

Here’s what happening around the water cooler:

• Basketball was super lit last week: Villanova upset Duke, and the UConn women’s team & Breanna Stewart are beasting – 4 years strong;

• Equal pay rights: The US Women’s Soccer team isn’t exempt from wage discrimination and is holding U.S Soccer accountable;

• Black Girls’ Rocks: The 2016 show was super dope, but did we really need the Clinton cameo?

• Primetime TV: It’s safe to say that ACS: The People v. OJ Simpson was a major success, and everyone is talking about Underground for good reason!

• Weed & Rosco’s: Whoopi Goldberg is launching a line of medical marijuana products to combat menstrual pain; and despite all of the chicken and waffles consumed at Rosco’s, the parent company has filed for bankruptcy.

Then we talk about it! This week’s “it” is the fine line walked when black culture in used for marketing, advertisement, and branding. Is this stuff racist, stereotyping, and offensive… or are we just hyper sensitive?

Finally, we end the show with music from Irene’s baby daddy (aka: Mack Wilds), and a reminder that we all make mistakes and often desire … and deserve… forgiveness.

See ya’ll next week!

True Religion

And it’s another episode of FSG!

We recap our Easter weekends and Irene is getting ready to frolic through the enchanted streets of New Orleans!

Around the water cooler, we talk about Nick Cannon’s new reality show, a few changes at The Voice and the success of last seasons’ winner, the amazingness of The Obamas, the NCAA finals are here, the FBI managed to get into that phone that they trolled Apple about, and the only question that really matters is ‘Beyonce’, where’s the damn album?!”

In would you rather foolishness, what’s more important to you: how you show up or how you leave? This week, would you rather always have to enter a room backwards or always have to somersault out? Let us know what you would rather…@FSGPodcast #FSGWYR.

And since Lent season is now over, we decided to talk a little bit about the changing landscape of religion. We discuss the ways our personal faith practices have changed and what we’ve observed, as it relates to non-denominational churches, bedside baptist, technology in church, etc.

Then we wrap it all up, with a plea for Frank Ocean to give us some new music-In Irene’s Beats this week, is a “vibe out” record from his 2011 debut mixtape- Nostalgia Ultra. And Shells’ eye spy inspiration is from the lyrics of a Jordan Smith number.

We’ll be back with more next week…and celebrating our 1 year anniversary! AHHH! See you then!

Listen. Laugh. Share
