Yoga’s Witchcraft?

It’s a new week and a new episode of FSG. Welcome!

Shells is trying to find more “stillness and mindfulness” in her daily routine and got a preview of life as a Kindergartner’s mom. Meanwhile, from the White House to the gun range to Rihanna’s concert, last week was sort of the warm up to Irene’s annual Season of Epic Experiences (aka: Spring & Summer). She explains.

When it comes to fame or fortune, which would you rather? Let us know… @FSGPodcast #FSGWYR. In this episode, we decided to hang out around the water cooler for a while. We acknowledge the terror attacks in Brussels and the passing of a Hip-hop pioneer, A Tribe Called Quest’s Phife Dawg; Cruz / Trump got twitter beef (Yes, this is the “best” of the GOP); the most recent Doodle for Google winner proves, yet again, that #BlackGirlsRock, and we debate Justin Bieber’s decision to cancel Meet & Greets and the backlash from parents of students at a GA school that incorporated yoga as a stress relief activity…and by “debate”, we mean totally disagree.

Given the recent loss to the Hip-hop community with the passing of Phife Dawg, Irene honors his memory and contribution to music with a classic Tribe joint in her Beats this week. Then we wrap it up with a quote plucked from Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday conversation that focuses on keeping things in perspective and finding the best in yourself, no matter what.

That’s it for us for now! Until next week, continue to listen, laugh, and share the good FSG word! We love ya’ll!

What’s the Big Secret?!

It’s a new week and a new show, good people!

Irene has lunch plans at the White House, and is counting down the days to Easter. Shells has returned to the gym and is taking baby steps to get back into a routine.
Around the water cooler – there are major changes underway at Sea World, an American student was arrested in North Korea for mostly being stupid, it looks like our presidential nominees are clear…kinda; CNN has a cool new show about what it takes to make it to the White House; Obama nominated a new Supreme Court Justice, and Irene recaps the BET Honors.
This week’s would you rather question deals with what you’re willing to tolerate. Would you rather spend one week stuck in a psychiatric hospital or an airport? @FSGPodacast #FSGWYR
Let’s Talk About… “The Secret“: the law of attraction. We talk about how comfortable we are with this concept, our response to the documentary, and whether we apply the law attraction in our own lives. And after we talk about it… we want you to TALK BACK! Hit us up at 202-780-5FSG!
Finally, we wrap up the show with a “get the draws, dawg” hit produced by LA Reid, a musical legend. And eye spy inspiration is a quote from the Secret about faith and doubt.
We love ya’ll and appreciate you rocking with us! Continue to spread the good FSG word… LISTEN, LAUGH, & SHARE!

Don’t Feed the Role Models

Good People, we’re back!!!
Irene is excited about spring’s arrival and the friendly competition of March Madness; meanwhile, Shells does not swallow on demand and hates subtitles. So there’s that.

Around the water cooler, we discuss Maria Sharapova‘s failed drug test, the mystery of political polling, some new music from Kendrick Lamar and 2Chainz & Lil’ Wayne, Janelle Monae and Taraji’s exciting #BlackGirlMagic project, and DJ Khaled dropped major keys on Ellen last week!

Our Would You Rather is about how you’d like to see the world, the skies or the seas. So would you rather sail or take a hot air balloon around the world? Hit us up #FSGWYR @FSGPodcast on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Then, we get into it… the slippery slope of “role models”. From Sharapova’s troubles, Cam Newton’s post-Super Bowl reaction, the collapse of legacies like OJ Simpson and Bill Cosby, to the backlash of Kim K.’s recent nude pic, we talk about the idea of roles models, and the risk and reward of celebrity role models.

Finally, a young artist hailing from Kentucky gets Irene’s stamp of approval in ” What’s In My Beats?” this week, and Shells’ offers an eye spy inspiration about beating to your own drum.

Remember, we’d love to hear from you… so email us, tweet us, comment on FB, or talk back at (202) 780-5FSG.

Until next week, continue to listen, laugh, and share.

Politicin’ in 2016 ft. Dr. Keneshia N. Grant

We’re super excited about this week’s show! After catching up on Irene’s Target addiction (amongst other things), and Shells’ avoidance of the barbershop, we briefly discuss the backlash of Zoe Saldana playing Nina Simone and the unfathomable fact that Donald Trump is winning and his rally supporters are insane. We change up our Would You Rather segment this week with a little political quiz. See how much you know here.

And then we get into the highlight of our show! We are joined by Dr. Keneshia N. Grant to discuss the fascinating 2016 Political Presidential Race, the history and migration of the African American vote, and our responsibility as voting citizens. We LOVED Dr. Grant’s down to earth, honest, and candid insights on what we are currently facing in politics!

We wrap up the show by tapping into and expanding Irene’s musical palette with a Nigerian artist that wants us to “Shake Body“; and Shells eye spy inspiration encourages us to create strong circles of folks around and be open to conversations that encourage learning, understanding and greater awareness.
We really enjoyed this one and we hope you do too! As always, remember to listen, laugh and share! Hit us up on TwitterInstagram, and Facebook or our talk back line (202) 780-5FSG!
See ya next week!
